Thailand Hard Drive Factories

Q BIG increase in hard drive price?
i go on new egg every few days just to check out some of the new technology, and i always looked at the hard drives and wondered how a 500GB HD could cost as little as $40, but i went on new egg a few days ago and notices that that same drive cost $80, but itwasn’tt just that drive that the price increased, it was every signal one, a 1TB drive that cost $80 not cost like $180
can anyone pleas tell me what happened?
A Floods in Thailand.
Hard drive manufacturers have their factories closed down. There aren’t many being manufactured now, making the prices quite high and hard drive inventories quite low.
Ŧħąįŀąŋđ Ꜧąṝḓ Ɗȓǐѷέ Ḟąɕʈȱȓǐέș
I believe that the query above was posed back on October 29, 2011 ─ if the response did indeed accurately explain the pricing hike, other factors will of course be involved in any similar situation in the present.
If you are really here because of an interest in Thailand hard drive factories, that topic will be covered. However, I intend to offer quite a lot more ─ I like generously spreading the relevance of the content of my posts, thereby bringing in some of the unexpected.
So don’t be afraid to explore a little.
I am laying this foundation on December 12, 2020. And even though I fully intend to add something here each and every day hereafter until the post is published, my struggle will be to get it published before the year runs out. Let’s see how I do!
[NB: I performed abominably where the completion of this lengthy (over 34,000 words) post is concerned, as you can see from the publishing date. The Christmas and New Year’s period consumed far more of my time than I wildly anticipated.]22 Jun 2020 ─ Indo Pacific Strategy
The pandemic has suddenly raised discussion around the world about us being ‘too dependent’ on China. There are a number of facets to this thinking.
The angry voices are saying that China needs to be punished. That their failure to share information about the virus allowed it to spread and cause significant damage to the world economy. …
With a leader who can’t stand to announce bad news and spreads disinformation, a disbanded pandemic task force, chaotic coordination between states and federal government, and a sizeable population of people who insist that no one can tell them what to do, it is hard to say that the outcome, including sharing timely information with the world, would have been better. …
The more serious consideration for both companies and countries is how to diversify overall trade and individual supply chains, to limit the possible impact of any one country.

With increased outsourcing, globalisation, and just-in-time production, the ability to effectively identify, assess and manage risks in the supply chain is more important than ever. Supply Chain Risk Management is a practical learning resource which explores a wide range of external threats to the supply chain such as natural disasters, economic risk, terrorism and piracy. An ideal companion to academic and professional training courses, it presents a robust set of strategies which can minimise and mitigate supply chain risk.
Supply Chain Risk Management includes numerous best practice case studies, with each case documenting the company’s supply chain or production strategy and outlining the catastrophic event which occurred. This comprehensive second instalment of Supply Chain Risk, which won the 2014 ACA-Bruel Special Mention prize, analyses the supply chain consequences, material losses, management response, and resultant changes to a company’s supply chain strategy. With a new chapter on cyber threats to supply chains, Supply Chain Risk Management also includes academic pedagogy such as objectives, summaries and a key point checklist in each chapter.

Amazon U.S. • Hard Disk Drive: Mechatronics and Control (Automation and Control Engineering)
The hard disk drive is one of the finest examples of the precision control of mechatronics, with tolerances less than one micrometer achieved while operating at high speed. Increasing demand for higher data density as well as disturbance-prone operating environments continue to test designers’ mettle. Explore the challenges presented by modern hard disk drives and learn how to overcome them with Hard Disk Drive: Mechatronics and Control.
Beginning with an overview of hard disk drive history, components, operating principles, and industry trends, the authors thoroughly examine the design and manufacturing challenges. They start with the head positioning servomechanism followed by the design of the actuator servo controller, the critical aspects of spindle motor control, and finally, the servo track writer, a critical technology in hard disk drive manufacturing. By comparing various design approaches for both single- and dual-stage servomechanisms, the book shows the relative pros and cons of each approach. Numerous examples and figures clarify and illustrate the discussion.
Exploring practical issues such as models for plants, noise reduction, disturbances, and common problems with spindle motors, Hard Disk Drive: Mechatronics and Control avoids heavy theory in favor of providing hands-on insight into real issues facing designers every day.
- Проблемы с USB-хабом или USB HDD [Problems with the USB hub or USB HDD]

I saw a lot of questions and voiced problems on the otvet.mail.ru resource that were associated with USB hubs (external with additional power), but I never met the right answer. I mean the following problems:
– the usb hdd connected to the USB hub is unstable during the transfer of data (unstable speed, extremely low speed, connection falls off and auto-connect again), Windows may freeze. …I don’t know what exactly is the matter, but it turns out that hard drives still consume current from USB, being already powered from their own power source. Migrants are the quintessential global citizens, leaving their places of birth and moving across borders in search of new livelihoods; but ruptures caused by COVID-19 have exposed major fault lines…
Between a rock and a hard place: early experience of migration challenges under the COVID-19 pandemic, a working paper under the AGRUMIG project, traces early COVID-19 impacts on migrants from seven countries, including China, Ethiopia, Morocco and Thailand. …
In contrast, informal migrants from Laos and Myanmar working in construction, shops, factories and domestic settings in Thailand lacked work contracts, industry standards and termination conditions. …
The rupture remains, therefore, in the logistics rather than the economic calculations that drive movement, and this suggests that migration will bounce back in time – despite the additional risks and the increased control, scrutiny and stigmatization that many migrants will face in a post-pandemic world. …

Amazon U.S. • Supply Chain Resilience: Reducing Vulnerability to Economic Shocks, Financial Crises, and Natural Disasters
This book investigates individual companies’ and industries’ supply chain risk management approaches to identify risk drivers and verify effective risk-reduction measures and business continuity plans.
Typically, supply chain risk assessments focus on normative guidelines based on single best practice examples or vulnerability events, and there has been little work exploring how the concepts of supply chain risk management and resilience are related. However, since this relationship has implications for developing integrated response strategies, a clear understanding of the possible consequences is a fundamental step in building socio-economic resilience along the supply chain.
Against this background, the book addresses three main topics: firstly, it defines the conceptual and sectoral domains of supply chain risk management and resilience by examining the welfare effects of extreme weather events and other economic shocks on selected global supply chains. It then presents an in-depth analysis of the scope of public–private partnerships to tackle the risks, by empirically exploring supply chain risk effects and information management. Thirdly, it proposes a regional cooperation framework in the context of major supply chain vulnerability events such as disasters and global financial crises.

Amazon U.S. • The Windup Girl
Amazon U.S. • By Paolo Bacigalupi – The Windup Girl (Reissue) (2015-05-20) [Paperback]
Anderson Lake is a company man, AgriGen’s Calorie Man in Thailand. Under cover as a factory manager, Anderson combs Bangkok’s street markets in search of foodstuffs thought to be extinct, hoping to reap the bounty of history’s lost calories. There, he encounters Emiko. Emiko is the Windup Girl, a strange and beautiful creature. One of the New People, Emiko is not human; instead, she is an engineered being, creche-grown and programmed to satisfy the decadent whims of a Kyoto businessman, but now abandoned to the streets of Bangkok. Regarded as soulless beings by some, devils by others, New People are slaves, soldiers, and toys of the rich in a chilling near future in which calorie companies rule the world, the oil age has passed, and the side effects of bio-engineered plagues run rampant across the globe.
What Happens when calories become currency? What happens when bio-terrorism becomes a tool for corporate profits, when said bio-terrorism’s genetic drift forces mankind to the cusp of post-human evolution? In The Windup Girl, award-winning author Paolo Bacigalupi returns to the world of “The Calorie Man” (Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award-winner, Hugo Award nominee, 2006) and “Yellow Card Man” (Hugo Award nominee, 2007) in order to address these poignant questions.

The substantial burden of death and disability that results from interpersonal violence, road traffic injuries, unintentional injuries, occupational health risks, air pollution, climate change, and inadequate water and sanitation falls disproportionally on low- and middle-income countries. Injury Prevention and Environmental Health addresses the risk factors and presents updated data on the burden, as well as economic analyses of platforms and packages for delivering cost-effective and feasible interventions in these settings.
The volume’s contributors demonstrate that implementation of a range of prevention strategies-presented in an essential package of interventions and policies-could achieve a convergence in death and disability rates that would avert more than 7.5 million deaths a year.

23 Feb 2012 … Feb. 23 (Bloomberg) — During 10 turbulent years in Thailand, Kittiratt Na-Ranong tackled jobs ranging from president of the stock exchange to manager of the national soccer team, an underperforming outfit nicknamed the War Elephants. …
As deputy prime minister and finance minister, Kittiratt says, his task is to convince investors that the government can build defenses to prevent the recurrence of floods that last year inundated thousands of factories critical to global supply chains as well as a swath of the paddies that supply 29 percent of international rice shipments. …

Thailand‘s high-tech Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), established in May 2018, is the cornerstone for the country’s Industry 4.0 vision to become a fully developed nation by 2035.
The 13,000sqkm EEC stretches south and east of Bangkok and covers three provinces with a total population of three million. It aims to be the gateway to Southeast Asia (SEA) and a global digital innovation hub.
Already, the special economic zone is home to the world’s 11th largest auto exporting industry, leading global suppliers of hard disc drives and home appliances, a major petrochemical industry and the international tourist resort of Pattaya.
Under the Thailand 4.0 plan, automakers and their supply chains are transitioning to electric vehicle production, the electronics sector is upscaling and petrochemical manufacturers are increasingly adopting less polluting renewable biotechnologies as Thailand embraces the so-called bio-circular-green economy. I feel this more so in Thailand, where it seems 9 out of 10 foreign men here are into young girls, prostitution, wives of servitude, and/or anorexic Barbies. …
