I believe that most people interested in Iceland will enjoy lots of what they find in this extremely long post, since it will include not just current information, but also visitor descriptions published long before the utter COVID-19 scamdemic / plandemic / casedemic nonsense that has paralyzed the world.

Anyway, check out what follows. There will be a lot to see.

Amazon U.S. • Iceland: A Literary Guide for Travellers (Literary Guides for Travellers)
Iceland is an island of multiple identities in constant flux, just like its unruly, volcanic ground. Shaped as much by storytelling as it is by tectonic activity, Iceland’s literary heritage is one of Europe’s richest – and most ancient.
Iceland: A Literary Guide for Travellers takes the literary-minded traveller (either in person or in an armchair) on a vivid and illuminating journey. It follows Iceland’s many stories that have been passed down through the generations: told and retold by sheep farmers, psalm-writers, travelling reverends, independence fighters, scholars and hedonists. From the captivating Norse myths, which continue to inspire contemporary authors such as A. S. Byatt, to gripping Scandinavian crime fiction and Game of Thrones, via Jules Verne and J. R. R Tolkien, W. H. Auden and Seamus Heaney, Iceland’s influence has spread far beyond its frozen shores.
Peopled by Norse maidens and witches, elves and outlaws and taking the reader and traveller from Reykjavik and the Bay of Smokes to the remote Westfjords and desolate highlands, this is an enthralling portrait of the Land of Ice and Fire.
- Шотландия: Шетландские острова – Леруик, Мэйнлэнд – Йелл – Унст. [Scotland: Shetland Islands – Lerwick, Mainland – Yell – Unst.]
16th-May-2011 ─ Diary of a visionary – dead but dreaming
Aberdeen Shetland Orkney – Aberdeen
Geographically, Shetland consists of a group of islands, but not all of them are equal. The largest part stands out, where Lerwick is located, called Mainland (Mainland) and the rest of the islands, of which there are about a hundred in total. This hundred includes some of the “main” islands, such as Yell, Unst (Unst, in Russian transcription they write “Anst”, but the locals do not know about it and call it “Unst”) or Bressay, so and small remote islands such as Fair (Fair Isle), to which sail for several hours by ferry, as well as all sorts of rocks sticking out of the ocean, on which a colony of puffins can hardly be accommodated. … ─Google Translate

The extraordinary new novel from Nordic Council Literature Prize-winning Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir.
Iceland in the 1960s. Hekla always knew she wanted to be a writer. In a nation of poets, where each household proudly displays leatherbound volumes of the Sagas, and there are more writers per capita than anywhere else in the world, there is only one problem: she is a woman.
After packing her few belongings, including James Joyces’s Ulysess and a Remington typewriter, Hekla heads for Reykjavik with a manuscript buried in her bags. She moves in with her friend Jon, a gay man who longs to work in the theatre, but can only find dangerous, backbreaking work on fishing trawlers. Hekla’s opportunities are equally limited: marriage and babies, or her job as a waitress, in which harassment from customers is part of the daily grind. The two friends feel completely out of place in a small and conservative world.
And yet that world is changing: JFK is shot and hemlines are rising. In Iceland another volcano erupts and Hekla meets a poet who brings to light harsh realities about her art. Hekla realizes she must escape to find freedom abroad, whatever the cost.
Miss Iceland is a novel of extraordinary poise and masterful acuity from one of our most celebrated Icelandic writers.

Amazon U.S. • Questions of Travel: William Morris in Iceland
Poet and novelist Lavinia Greenlaw’s poetic reflections on William Morris’s Icelandic Journal, one of the overlooked masterpieces of travel literature.
The great Victorian designer and decorative artist William Morris was fascinated by Iceland and wrote a book documenting his travels there. He gets caught up with questions of travel, noting his reaction to the idea of leaving or arriving, to hurry and delay, what it means to dread a place you’ve never been to or to encounter the actuality of a long-held vision. He is sensitive to the emotional landscape of his band of travelers and, above all, continuously analyzing and fixing this “most romantic of all deserts.”
Lavinia Greenlaw follows in his footsteps, and interposes his prose with her own “questions of travel.” The result is a new and composite work that brilliantly explores our conflicted reasons for not staying at home.

К сожалению, первые слабые слухи о переводе не оправдались, потом была начала большая работа, о которой многие, конечно, знают. Что с ней сейчас, я не имею понятия. I love Morrowind. I love companions. Especially in Morrowind. And Julan is the best of them all.
I loved him the way he was. And then a new version came out, and it was just incredible. And I very much hoped for her translation. Unfortunately, the first faint rumors about the transfer did not come true, then a lot of work began, which many, of course, know about. What is wrong with her now, I have no idea. Many waited and hoped, including myself. But I no longer have the strength to wait – so I set to work myself. …1 books. All topics. ─Google Translate
